This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with pure natural goat hair.
This is a part of a “Chadur” made from tent covers by nomadic tribes in the mountains of Tarsus.
This one is 2 similar pieces sewn together making one large area rug. It is a beautiful tweed plaid in light tan and brown. It has a few pink strands woven in a few places. It is sewn together with alternate brown and tan intricate stitching. There are handsewn patches done by the villagers, adding to the storied past of these handmade rugs that started out as tent covers.
Natural goat hair comes in various shades and intensities of brown and cream resulting in a gorgeous brown “tweed”.
