This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with wool, goat hair and linen.
It is various shades and intensities of gray and white and fine strands of dark brown with some sections using more of the goat hair resulting in darker specks of gray/brown.
It looks like birch bark...so beautiful...
It is very finely woven and would benefit from a non skid pad underneath.
It is 3 pieces sewn together by the villagers as their looms were only a certain width which made it easier to take them with them as they traveled to cooler climates in the summertime.
Actual size is 6’10” x 11’7” it is reversible.
It has been professionally washed and restored.
Free shipping applies to lower 48 states only.
*Part of the beauty of these pieces is in their authenticity. They are not perfect in their shape or edges. They often have patches done by the weavers which we leave as it adds to the story of the rug. Some of them have apricot stains as they were often used to carry the fruit from orchard to home. This look is not for everybody. It will appeal to people who appreciate imperfection or wabi sabi...
