This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with hemp and goat hair.
It is black, gray, and cream tweed with a few threads of red and green in the mix. The whiter areas are due to more hemp threads in that particular area.
Made from cotton, wool, and pure hemp.
Very rough and durable in texture.
It is two pieces sewn together by the villagers as their looms were only a certain width which made it easier to take them with them as they traveled to cooler climates in the summertime.
Actual size is 5’10”x 8’5” it is reversible!
It has been professionally washed and restored.
