This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with pure organic hemp “tweeded” with more hemp in a different color.
This one is off white pure hemp with subtle variations in color and a few taupe and pale red stripes woven in different areas with no rhyme or reason. Pretty and clean..it also has little colorful pastel ties in a few areas that represent wishes for their family.
This rug is 3 pieces as most of these nomadic pieces are several pieces sewn together due to their looms only being a narrow width which made it easier to travel to warmer climates during the winter months.
Pure hemp is cool to the touch and underfoot.

It has been professionally washed and restored. This has a hand sewn patch also done in hemp.

*The beauty of these pieces is in their authenticity. They are not perfect in their shape or edges. They often have patches done by the weavers which we leave as it adds to the story of the rug. Some of them have apricot stains as they were often used to carry the fruit from orchard to home.This look is not for everybody. It will appeal to people who like imperfection or wabi sabi...
