This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with wool, goat hair and cotton.
It is various shades and intensities of chocolate brown and cream in two of the pieces and one piece is decidedly creamy white with specks of gray goat hair throughout. It has a few very interesting patches which we left intact which were done by the villagers.
It is very finely woven and would benefit from a non skid pad underneath.
It is three pieces sewn together by the villagers as their looms were only a certain width which made it easier to take them with them as they traveled to cooler climates in the summertime.
Actual size is 6’2” x 12’7” it is reversible
It has been professionally washed and restored.
Free shipping applies to lower 48 states only.
*Part of the beauty of these pieces is in their authenticity. They are not perfect in their shape or edges. They often have patches done by the weavers which we leave as it adds to the story of the rug. Some of them have apricot stains as they were often used to carry the fruit from orchard to home. This look is not for everybody. It will appeal to people who appreciate imperfection or wabi sabi...
