This gorgeous kilim from Black Sea region of Turkey is made with pure natural goat hair, hemp and wool.
This one is 3 pieces sewn together making one large area rug. Natural goat hair comes in various shades and intensities resulting in a gorgeous brown “tweed” mixed in with different colors of wool in the stripes and the white is hemp.
There is a small hand sewn patch smack dab in the center of the rug that we left intact which were done by the villagers. There are also colorful symbols that were woven into it in a few places that normally represent prosperity and good health for their families. Circa 1970’s
